Testimonials

Thank you once again for the enjoyable and worthwhile Nearly Elvis show at Trenton.  It was our largest gathering so far (he has been dead 42 years this month, but still pulls the crowds!).   The audience appreciated your interpretation and thoughtful manner.  I think one thing that was a positive for this group was that the electric speaker volume was not so loud as to be borderline annoying, as it is so often in concerts.   Instead, it was tastefully adjusted to fit the room and the group.

We would be pleased to recommend your presentation, and are grateful that we could partner to offer the concert to the community.

Ron  (Nearly Elvis)

My husband and I lived in New York for years and attended many Broadway shows, and saw much talent there.

This note is to thank you for your performance I saw Saturday.  I also want to tell you that you have more talent and vocal skills than any entertainer we have
seen in any Broadway production there!

You are not one of the best,  You ARE the Best I have ever seen or heard.

Thank you!

Rose Atkeens,  Iowa City, Iowa

Dear Nearly Elvis:
I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but it couldn’t have been better! (For our party) Apparently Ben has seen about 15 Elvis impersonators, and he thinks you’re better than most in Vegas…maybe you’ve heard that before:). Anyway, we had a blast- thanks again!

Diane Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

You are better than “Elvis” ever was. I will come see you wherever you perform. Thank you!

Thank you for sharing your special gift of music. That was such a beautiful song …during Baxter Fun Days Church Services! I had never heard it before, but the words were a sermon by itself! Praise the Lord! Ruth Miller and all the Bethany-ites. Baxter Iowa.

Ron, I was in attendance at your concert tonight in Newton, IA. It was TREMENDOUS…… You have a GOD given talent to sing and sing for an hour and a half with such force and tenderness and color. And then you added so much with your personal attributes as a singer and entertainer. I particularly appreciated your love for God in your Final numbers. I am proud to have you as a top-notch performer from IOWA. (And the most handsome one that resembles Elvis the most, out of all the impersonators I have ever seen.) Shirley S., Newton, Iowa.

Ron and Charlotte,

Jim and I wanted to thank you for the wonderful tribute you did to Elvis. Our classmates said they had never had so much fun and all thought you did a great job. It was our best reunion ever. We couldn’t have picked a better entertainer. Again thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Jim and Linda Caldwell Boone Country Club, Class of 1963 Reunion Party.

P.S. I gave your name to a 1961 grad so he will eventually be contacting you.

Thank you Very much for such a great performance at my mom’s 90th birthday party, at the American Legion. You were a big hit! I know you sang longer than you were suppose to……and I really appreciate that!!! They would have listened to you all afternoon… Anyway, thank you from our entire family……she will never forget her 90th birthday. I am so glad she is alive to enjoy all the attention she got, rather than at a funeral. Thanks! Peggy S. Oelwein, IA

Dear Ron also known as Mr. Nearly Elvis

I wanted to thank you for performing for us in Mt. Pleasant last week. Your voice is richer and
your style of singing is BETTER than the real Elvis. (I am not the only one that said this)
Plus, I am 82 years old and I was a big fan of Elvis myself, so I know a little of what I am talking about.
Also, you are so personal and warm and caring. EVERYONE loved you and what you did for us.

Please come back soon!!! Margianne L., Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.

Thank you again for helping this dream come true…. Camp Courageous… (For providing an Elvis show for campers and staff) Wonderful Job Ron! We are so Grateful to YOU!

From your Biggest Fan and Follower Katie
On Saturday, since Crestview had the entrances to the parking area blocked off, my boyfriend was going to park the car offsite. At the end of your show, he was going to leave, to get the car and pick me up. He stopped and decided he was not leaving…quite yet. He just KNEW you’d be singing Touch of the Master’s Hand and he was surely NOT going to miss that. He loves it. He especially loves when YOU sing it. Thank you for not disappointing him. Heck, I thought I gushed over you…he is a HUGE fan. Every time I tell him I am going to see you, he asks if he can go too.”

Ron… Thanks so much for your part in our Anniversary Celebration! What a surprise-A very good one. Everyone
enjoyed your music and it added that “Magical” touch. We look forward to seeing you and Charlotte again. Jane & Andy, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

You were awesome, and so many people commented on how personable you were, and they enjoyed visiting with you afterwards. Everyone agreed that they loved your choices of songs to sing, and the last one was a perfect finale. This will make you chuckle. My future grandson-in-law made $20.00 from his dad who offered him that amount if “the Elvis impersonator” was not a fat, homely guy who can’t sing but tried to be Elvis. Since he was DEAD WRONG Matt is now $20.00 richer. My whole family (from Des Moines) loved you as did so many others.
I’m still getting emails, got stopped every two steps at church, and accosted at the grocery story with people telling me how much they loved the whole thing, and where did I find such talented folks. I just smiled. Thanks again, and I will come hear you whenever I can. Kay

Dear Mr. Nearly Elvis

We came from Marion Iowa yesterday to see you at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church in Cedar Rapids. My friend Lisa and
I are huge Elvis fans.

When you entered the room Lisa turned to me and asked me if I had heard you before. I said no. Then she said, wow you are a
handsome man! (And you were skinny, just like we loved and remembered him)

We just wanted to write and say you touched our hearts and those of everyone around us with your program. We not only thought you looked, sounded like our fav, Elvis… You interacted with us just like we know he would.

Thank you.

St. George Greek Orthodox Church Gospel Show, That was GREAT !!! I had a blast. I brought a friend with me. His first words were, “He does look like Elvis”. Then after Ron Semler sang Green, Green Grass of Home (which I had requested) my friend said, “He did that better than Tom Jones.” The whole show was WONDERFUL. I got goose bumps when he sang a new song, that I had never heard him do before….The Touch Of The Masters Hand.

Dear Mr. Semler… Nearly Elvis.

I just wanted to write and let you know we all enjoyed your concert at the St. Joseph’s Church on February 10th.

We were so surprised by your vocal talent and we were so glad that you are not the heavy-set Elvis of his later years.. What a pleasure and joy it was to watch you, listen and watch the crowd.
(We were the first ones to stand up (jump up) at the end to give you a standing ovation… 🙂 Bravo, Bravo, Bravo!!!

You should know that our table all thought that you sing BETTER than Elvis!!!!

Many wonderful Christ-filled blessings and moments to you.

Your new fans from St. Joseph Church.

We had contacted Ron the morning of my mom’s 70th surprise birthday party and he graciously agreed to come do a singing telegram for my mom. He was wonderful! Many of our guests commented that Elvis was the best part of the night! When I asked my mom if she had liked him, she answered, “Liked him? I LOVED him!” Thank you, Ron, for making my mom’s birthday such a special and memorable one.

I just got back from the benefit for the Spece family – Building a dream in the Country – which was held at the Buchanan County Fairgrounds.
I had to write and let you know how impressed I was. You put on a great show. I am a people watcher and I have never seen so many swooning women. Most everyone received a teddy bear, a hound dog, a string of beads or an Hawaiian lei.
I was so funny to see you standing with your back to a couple of young girls and to watch as one of them reached up to mime grabbing your butt, with a huge smile on her face. I nearly fell out of my chair when you sang Bridge Over Troubled Water and you turned away from me just as you sang “I’m sailing right behind” and the lovely woman next to me grabbed my hand and said, “You got the behind alright.”. I remarked how I was doing fine until she said that. Then we both started laughing. She then indicated that she’d been “following you around” for over nine years. She told me that she’d driven 55 miles just to attend today’s show.
I’ve been to other shows, where the entertainer stayed in front of the audience, never moving more than a few feet left or right…appearing to think he was too good to be amongst the fans or feeling above physical contact. You, however, moved freely about the room, hugging and touching people. I could see you making connections with the crowd, without making anyone feel harassed. I watched as you handed a girl a teddy bear. The bored, almost scowling look on her face softened to a smile. I saw a two year old little girl carrying the Beanie Baby bear you gave her around the room, draped over her shoulder, showing it to anyone who would stay still long enough to hear her story of how “the singer man” gave it to her. This surprised me because many toddlers would be frightened by a strange man dressed in a white, chain covered jumpsuit walking up to them, let alone handing them a gift. You have a true gift of your own. The gift of talent and personality. It is a gift of charisma. This charisma was best demonstrated by the fact that you had three women at your beck and call to help you set up and break down your sound equipment.
Keep up the good work. Never let your impending stardom go to your head.
Octavia

Mr. Semler,
Thank you for making my wedding the event of my life.
My mother was in a senior care facility last year. In September, while planning my ceremony and reception, she told me that she had seen the “most excellent Elvis guy” perform in the dining room early the previous month. She raved about how he had stopped the show to sing a special birthday song to her. She showed me the teddy bear she kept propped up on her pillow…the bear HE had given her, with a hug.
I had dismissed the idea of an “Elvis guy” at my wedding. But, every time we started talking about music she brought up this “beautiful man” with this “beautiful voice”.
Just to appease her I asked one of the nurses who this entertainer was who had so intrigued my mother. Her eyes crinkled with the joy of remembrance and a girlish smile came, automatically, to her face. She found your name and number for me. She told me there was no better choice for my wedding day. She couldn’t be more complementary as she told me how much the residents adored you. She spoke of the “honey” in your voice and the sweet way you engaged your audience.
When I called you, you made me feel at ease immediately. You quoted me a price that seemed quite fair compared to the other DJs & wedding singers I had contacted. You took the time to go over every detail with me. Together we came up with a list of songs that made me very happy. Every request was met with a hearty “We can do that.”.
As the guests entered the church they saw a gentleman clad in a smart, crisp tuxedo with an engaging smile and they heard a few simple love songs. As the ceremony progressed there was a low, quiet string of gospel numbers. As we walked up the aisle, as man and wife, the guests smiled as they heard Unforgettable – our song – the song everyone knew we had fallen in love to.

If that had been the end of your time with us the day would have been perfect. But, we still had a move to the hall for our wedding dance. The transition from church to reception hall went smoothly. You were ready to begin as the first guests started to arrive.
There was no silly chicken dance or Hokey Pokey. We appreciated that. Each song was hand picked just for us, from The Carpenters to Looking Glass, from Carole King to Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, from big bands to one hit wonders – and yes, you even talked me into a lovely selection of Elvis Presley and a current song from the movie’ “Moulin Rouge,” Come What May.

We loved how you asked about our chosen color pallet, so that you could wear the perfect, complementary suit.

When mom told me this “Elvis guy” was the right man for the job she could not have been more correct. We knew you were worth much more than the contracted amount you charged us. When our guests took it upon themselves to take up a collection of “tips for the velvet voiced wedding singer” we were quite surprised and delighted. We hope you were as well. A few of our more knowledgeable attendees commented about the magnificent range of octaves you possess. (I hope I got that right.) I don’t know anything about the science of music. I only know what I like and I was thrilled to my core by your talent and concern for making the whole day all about our wants and needs.

Sadly my mother passed away last week. The way you made her baby so very happy and the knowledge that you had been her own personal pick brought her life to a wonderful end. Thank you again for making our day absolutely divine.
Thank you also for making time in your busy schedule to perform at her funeral. I am certain she was looking down from Heaven with an ear to ear grin.
Count me as a new fan and devoted follower,
Sincerely,
Alexa

I am an activity Coordinator for the Buchanan County Health Center Long Term Care Facility in Independence, Iowa. We had Ron come for a special tribute to Veterans. He came in uniform and performed an Elvis G. I. Blues show. WOW! We are a small facility in a small community but managed to pack the room with over 100 people from the community in addition to our residents and staff. Highlights from the show were his enthusiasm, sweet voice, and interaction with the crowd, especially honoring veterans in attendance. He was very generous with his time and allowed many opportunities for photo ops. Ladies young and older are still swooning! Ron has a genuine spirit and we would definitely like to have him come back for a repeat performance.

Dianne Hepke, Activity Coordinator

“I am the Activity Director for a small nursing home in western Illinois and I was planning an “Elvis Extravaganza” day for our residents. I came across Mr. Semler’s name as I was looking for local impersonators, but I knew not just any ‘ol one would do. I listened to his audio clips, reviewed his references, and felt confident as I sent him an email asking him if he would like to come to our facility. Immediately he began to impress me. His prompt response was one of delight and enthusiasm; he had answered all my questions. I had to mention the small budget that our home has, and he was more than happy to work with me regarding that. We then kept in contact for the few weeks leading up to his visit; he was always available to address any concerns that popped up. When he arrived in mid-August, everyone was so excited! I was continually impressed with his positive demeanor, friendliness, and professionalism. His wife was a delight as well, assisting him with set-up. The show was spectacular, and that is a huge understatement. We had a full house and the residents kept talking about his performance for hours, and even days, after he had “left the building.” One of our residents’ family members who had been at the show saw how much the residents enjoyed it and secured the funds for Mr. Semler to come back and do a Christmas show for us. We are all very excited and anxious for his return to our facility!

Mr. Semler is a professional in what he does and it shows, but these days, it is hard to find someone of such talent act so professionally as well as see the obvious enjoyment he has in doing what he does. Ron – you are an incredibly talented entertainer who sincerely cares for the ones you are entertaining. Charlotte – your support for your husband is inspiring to see and something I think everyone should strive for – to be that loving and supportive of a significant other.
Many of our residents, and residents at other facilities, have nothing more than what they experience here – it is a huge part of my job to come up with activities that the residents will enjoy and that will keep their minds and bodies active. However, in this instance, I stepped back and put the residents’ enjoyment into the hands of another – wholly trusting that he would do a good job. And boy, did he deliver!! The residents had smiles from ear to ear for several days – and I could not have been more impressed by Mr. Semler! Thank you again, for giving our residents the experience of a lifetime!”

Dear Ron, aka “Elvis”

We just have to tell you how awesome it was to have you perform at our family reunion recently.

Everybody was so impressed with your show – it made our reunion the “best one ever” according to some. Many people mentioned that they had seen “Elvis” shows at different places around the country, including Las Vegas, and that you were the best!

I was watching the older people and the young people and they were all thoroughly enjoying themselves! Watching our 80 year-old aunt sing and dance with you is something we will all remember and cherish.

Thank you for sharing your God-given talent with us.

To all concerned;
I had the distinct pleasure of engaging the services of Mr. Semler for my 25th birthday celebration. I thought the highlight of my party was going to be the Marigold birthday cake. But, that fine pastry paled in comparison to the genuine confection who stood before my guests,
He started with a huge, white smile for all the ladies. He has the brightest, most captivating blue eyes. And the wisp of hair that falls upon his forehead is reminiscent of a genuine Elvis Presley spit curl.

He performed some of my very favorite songs. He was totally open to my special requests. Not only did he get us all shook up with his rendition of Shake, Rattle and Roll, but, I couldn’t help falling in love when he sang Kentucky Rain, My Way, Unchained Melody and How Great Thou Art.
Someone had told him that my favorite song, on his first CD, was the final track…The Wonder of You. Although we had discussed the whole play list for the show, he surprised me by holding my hand & singing it directly to me as my special birthday song. The small peck on the cheek and Happy Birthday, Kiddo was the cherry on my ice cream sundae.

He looked fabulous in a crisp white shirt, opened halfway down his chest, a Grey, short waisted jacket and fine, black tuxedo pants, which accentuated his hips and fine physique…

After regaling us with forty-five minutes of pure pleasure, he changed into a form fitting jumpsuit and macrame belt.
His second set included Swing Down Sweet Chariot, Little Sister and Bridge Over Troubled Waters. When he sang Take The Ribbon From Your Hair he gently placed scarves around the necks of the older ladies in the crowd. They positively swooned at the care and gentile nature of this sweet, kind, talented man. As an afterthought I requested that he do Memory, from the play CATS. With no music what-so-ever he proceeded to sing to me, A Capella. His voice sounded as if it was sent from the angels.

Once his second set was completed, he patiently & generously took pictures with my friends, family and honored guests. He signed autographs and sold blinking pins. Many of my guests asked if he might have some hats and t-shirts with his picture for sale. Unfortunately, these were not available. He promised us that if he acquired a supply he would be sure to accommodate us all.
At this point he changed, again, into his street clothes and joined the party, talking and mingling as if he had known these people all his life. He was relaxed, at ease & engaging with a group of what were, in reality, complete strangers to him.

I can wholeheartedly recommend Ron Semler for any function requiring a true entertainment experience.

I hired Ron for the surprise entertainment gift during the 50th wedding anniversary celebration of my parents. The words I describe his  performance at my event is “Awesome”. He has a beautiful tone in his voice, acts & mimics elvis as if he were Elvis himself, & has a definate connection  with each audience. He was early to his practice time and right on time for his performance. I had no problems with anything and it was all smooth  sailing and made the party the hit of the season. Everyone said quote “it was the best party Ive ever been too” all because Ron. He comes highly recommended by me,my parents, and every one there who enjoyed his show. He looks & moves so much like Elvis it will give you goosebumps, chills and tears.
On a personal level i’ve never met a sweeter person to deal with. When you choose to book him for an event you will not be dissappointed in anyway.

sincerely, Julie Niffenegger, Kalona, Iowa.:)

To Whom It May Concern:
I was fortunate to have been invited and attended a performance of Ron Semler in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in fall of 2003. I went because I had met Ron and heard a sample of a song originally performed by Elvis Presley but sung by him on his web site. The likeness was remarkable when I heard it for the first time visiting my mother-in-law’s house on her computer system. So similar in fact, her 91-year-old father remarked: “Who’s playing that Elvis song?”
I invited and brought my mother-in-law to a show Ron was performing in Cedar Rapids because I was intrigued. I thought to myself: “Gee, he looks like an Elvis impersonator…but does he actually sound like the King himself?” I am glad that I decided to attend because I was not disappointed. Not only did Ron actually look very similar to Elvis in his classic white suit, his singing ability will make you believer. From his amazing voice to the King’s famous attire…he is that good!
Additionally, what I like about Ron Semler from other performers in this genre is the integrity and humbleness that characterizes his personality and style. He is down to earth and he is very approachable without any hint of arrogance. He readily speaks sincerely of any question asked and his friendly demeanor promotes warmth and care.
As such, I wholeheartedly recommend Ron Semler’s Elvis Presley performance to any party interested. His show is truly remarkable and he has talent. He looks and sounds like Elvis. Coupled with his humbleness and demeanor, represents an appealing professional worthy of any audience.

Ron put on a wonderful show for our wedding reception on May 8th.2004.
He was very professional and very entertaining. Our guest’s are still talking about him!! He made a point through out his entire show to make contact with all our guest’s. He is very people friendly and very sociable. Everyone had a lot of fun with him. What impressed us the most about Ron was that he included all our guest’s during his show and did not pick out just a few select few. We’ve been to many shows where the entertainer picks one or two audience members and it seems like those picked are showered with attention throuh the entire set. Ron did not do this and I think that’s what sets him aside from some entertainers we have seen. He even stayed after his show for quite a long time visiting with our guest’s and posing for pictures. Ron has a wonderful voice and is a lot of fun to see in action as “Elvis” and as Ron himself. We plan on booking him for future events!!

To Whom It May Concern:

Ron Semler is a talented singer who has a wonderful voice whether he is imitating Elvis Presley or using his own natural singing voice. He is highly entertaining, capturing the audience with his voice, reeling them in with his smile, thus having the audience wanting more.

I have watched him perform while watching the response of those around me, it was all very good. I am impressed with Ron’s ability to keep the audience captivated with his enthusiasm and charisma. I would recommend Ron as a quality entertainer.

I am pleased to write this letter, for I believe that Ron will be a success. Please feel free to contact me with questions or further information at

To whom it may concern

Hello,
It is my great pleasure to tell you of the terrific talent of Ron Semler as “Nearly Elvis”. Ron is a consummate entertainer and takes great pride in sharing his skill and God given talent.
On July 3rd of this year I was at a performance he gave and it was a joy to see the attention he gave to the entire crowd.  There were cute little old ladies and men,  little girls and boys and everyone in-between and he made each  of us feel special.  That Ron enjoys being “Nearly Elvis” is evident when you see him mingle with the crowd kissing hands, giving out scarves and having FUN. His voice is amazing, and so warm and rich it makes you wonder…. if Elvis is still alive, and coming back one more time through Ron.  Ron works very hard at keeping his voice healthy and it shows in the great variety of Elvis songs he sings and does OHHHH so well!!!! I have heard him sing acappella and the true beauty of his magnificent voice  and range is amazing.  Oh and last but not least, he is strikingly handsome in his Elvis costumes and real “eye candy”  as he performs.  You truly come away  from an evening with Ron feeling happy and in high spirits.

Sincerely,
TJ Burds
